Rail Trail bridge in background, over Rock Harbor Road. The connecting path shown in the previous picture comes in at the left of the picture where the two women are standing. The markings on the road carry the assumption that bicyclists will ride along the right side of the road, and then cross in the crosswalk -- but no waiting location has been provided at the right side of the roadway. A widened turning location at the right side of the roadway is desirable for pedestrians, or bicyclists who cross in the crosswalk. Other bicyclists prefer to make vehicular left turns from the center of the roadway -- but the design shown neglects this normal and legal movement, and conveys the message that it is not sanctioned.
